How to speed up a slow iPhone or iPad

1. Turn off some background apps

Many apps, even ones you barely use or only serve basic functions like Calculator, Stocks, etc run in the background when you don't need them to, which slows down your device and uses your battery, to stop this, do the following:

1. Go to Settings

2. Tap General

3. Tap Background app refresh

4. Turn off anything you don't need immediate syncing or notifications for

2. Turn off the blurred backgrounds

When you open the recent apps, control center etc, you will see your wallpaper behind them blurred, this is only a minor visual effect and also slows down your device and wastes battery, to change it to a grey background, do the following:

1. Go to Settings

2. Tap Accessibility (If there's no option, look under General)

3. Turn on Reduce transparency (You may have to look under Increase Contrast)

3. Now turn your device off and on again and it should be alot faster now!

If your device is more than a couple of years old, or is still too slow, the battery may be on it's way out (Apple is known for slowing down phones with old batteries), if this is the case you should take your phone to a well rated independant repair shop (Apple themselves charge way too much) to get it replaced cheaply
